I actually heard this from clients and audiences for years, until I started sharing the picture and story below.
I was 19 in that picture, sitting there 60 pounds heavier, depressed. I was so depressed I walked away from a football scholarship even though when we were little my single mother bought her 3 kids groceries with food stamps.
Let me back up. Three years earlier, when I was 16, my father decided this world wasn’t for him, doing it in a public way. Before he left, he passed onto me what was passed onto him. That left me confused, angry, lost. If that’s a perfect life, no thank you.
Hating how I looked in the mirror, I knew I couldn’t live this way. I didn’t want to end up like my father, so I started searching…
Then, I found it
What I’m about to share, simple tools that saved my life, have never failed me, nor my clients.
No matter how bad things get (I lost 90% of my income in 2020), I always go back to these basics, getting everything I need from them- Confidence, Energy, Fitness, Strength, Libido, Passion, Purpose, Connection, and Love.

Running next to some guys I thought were my age, huffing up the hill, I asked, "Hey, how old are you guys?”
“42,” one said.
“I’m 45,” said the other.
“How old are you?” they asked.
“54.”
“Bro, good for you!”
I share that to demonstrate, no matter your age, or where you are right now, if you focus on four simple things, your life will change. The four things are:
The Foods You Eat
The Way You Move Your Body
The Thoughts You Direct Your Mind Toward
The Relationships That Give Your Life Meaning

I have dedicated the last 34 years of my life, since the day that picture of me was taken, first to helping myself, then others, and now, perhaps you.
During my journey I have weeded through and chopped away forests of misguided “health” & “success” information, products, and seminars that quite frankly do not work and just distract from what really helps one live their best life.
This is what I have observed- In 34 years I have never seen a person become healthier or happier with a pill, product, diet, fitness fad, or success scheme. Instead, the ones that change their lives do 3 things:
They are willing to change
They ask for help- They work with a therapist/coach/mentor
Everyday, they do simple, yet powerful things that change their lives.
I have also observed this- I have never met anyone that does not have the potential to change their lives, to look & feel the way they want.
Over and over I meet people in my audiences who become clients, or patients, or friends, then change their lives by following the steps above.
What upsets me
Sometimes I hear from someone, “Can you help me,” then they disappear. 6 Months later, heavier, perhaps diagnosed wtih a disease, they reach out again, then disappear again, and again. This is not a judgement. This is the sign of someone who wants better for themselves, but is struggling. They are so close- Here’s what I receommend they do- Make the decision to ask for help and accept it, that’s when their life will change.
