How To Motivate Anyone, Including Yourself- Part 2
Dear Friend,
I’ve been thinking about motivation for 30 years, first for myself, then for you.
Here’s what I found. We already have all the motivation we need. Where? Inside.
If you’re skeptical I understand. But hear me out. You’ve already motivated yourself in the past, whether it was to pass a test, muster up the courage to speak to that attractive person at the club, or to get a new job. What if you could tap into unlimited, sustainable motivation?
That’s what this post/podcast is about. Now, watch/listen above, or read below for how the most successful people find their everlasting motivation.
All my best,
Peter ❤️
Motivation
Create a compelling vision.
Know what you want and why. Get emotional about it- Emotions drive human behavior, followed up by logic.
Motivation- What do you love about your: (what already motivates you?)
Work: Meeting new people, learning, sharing, connecting
Life: 5 quality minutes per day with family
Play: fun, laughing, reading, gardening, intimacy
Below is a sample of a True Self form I created to help my clients get what they want. Answer these questions and let me know what happens. It may surprise you ;-)
My Vision (Purpose, Goal, Outcome)
______________________________________________________________________________
Do you believe this is possible? Yes ___ No ___ Maybe ___
Answer why this must happen: (Pleasure: keep this positive)
______________________________________________________________________________
What does it mean if it doesn’t happen: (Pain: this is negative, use strong language)
______________________________________________________________________________
My Excuses (beliefs) _____________________________________________________________
My top 5 Values 1____________ 2___________ 3__________ 4__________ 5___________
2. Reframe Everything
Frank my therapist taught me this- No matter what happens to me, what I see, whom I encounter, if I can find the benefit in it, my life will be better.
Try it. The next time someone cuts you off, criticizes you, misinterprets your intentions, ignores you, what message is the universe/God giving you? What good can come of it. How can this benefit you and your life?
“Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, get better answers.”
