BMR: basal metabolic rate

BMR is how many calories your body burns at rest.

  • To maintain your weight consume the same number of calories that you burn.

  • To gain weight consume more calories than you burn.

  • To lose weight consume fewer calories than you burn

Tip- You can also burn more calories by exercising.

Cheat sheet- Subtract 300 cal from your BMR (do not go below 1000 cals/day) and in one week you will lose 1 to 2 pounds of fat, guaranteed. The human body can only lose 1 to 2 pounds of fat per week. If you’re losing more weight, it’s a combination of water and muscle. YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MUSCLE! Therefore, make sure you work with a coach to get the formula right.

Caveats- Remember, this is a formula for weight loss, not health. Weight loss comes from quantitative measures (calories). Health comes from qualitative choices (whole foods).
