3 “Health” Foods That Are Unhealthy?

Testimonial

Pete C.

PK helped me lose 30lbs, so far, and increase my energy, sleep better, cure pain, and have more focus at work. I also saved $1000's on supplements and so called healthy food. Prior to meeting Peter I had been steadily gaining weight over the years. He helped me realize what I was eating was 90% great but I had to make some significant changes. This isn’t rocket science although it is a science. I am here to tell you, if you think you can’t... YOU CAN!! Let PK show you the way!

Dear Friend,

This all came about one evening, roaming the halls for a late night healthy snack in a hotel/casino in Atlantic City, NJ. I was scheduled to speak the next morning and wanted to choose the healthiest food to avoid bloating, help me sleep, wake energized and give the best presentation I possibly could. The snacks I found made me think of this…

Everyday I speak with someone struggling to lose weight, or who can’t sleep, is tired all the time, who’s joint’s hurt, has trouble concentrating, gets bloated after eating, and is stressed often. And their kids are also struggling with similar symptoms, including anxiety.

Did you know that every one of those symptoms can be from food? Even supposed healthy foods.

The snacks below are what I found that night. I’m not vilifying or judging the products or companies below. I’m saying if you have any of the symptoms above, are concerned about preventing disease, want to look and feel great, and want to help your children, look at the food you’re eating.

The items I’ve highlighted in the foods below, marketed as healthy snacks, have been questioned regarding whether they’re healthy or not, some linked to cancer, obesity, diabetes, and so on.

On the cover they check all the buzz words- 12 g Protein, Heart Healthy, Gluten Free, Vegan, No Nitrates/Nitrites, 100% Beef, but on closer inspection, which ingredients are flying under your radar?

Read below then let me know how I can help you and your family. It’s tough doing this on your own.

All my best,

Peter

3 “health” foods that are Unhealthy?

How to Make The Best Choices

Bars

Bars are ubiquitous “health” foods. But are they?

“Natural Flavor”- Blend of more than 100 processed chemicals including MSG, allergies, processing (still natural?) lack of transparency, misleading?

“Soy Lecithin”- Can raise estrogen→ Raised estrogen can be a risk for cancer. Also, if not organic, then GMO→ Pesticides, organ toxicity, soil depletion, antibiotic resistance.

“Rice Flour”- High carbs, low nutrients, heavy metals (Arsonic), high glycemix index → Diabetes.

BTW- Mars Inc. owns Kind. You know, M&Ms, Snickers, etc.

Dark Chocolate

A source of serotonin, the bodies natural feel good chemical, and delicious, but do these ingredients cancel the good?

“Alkalized Cocoa”- Process of alkalization significantly reduces cocoas antioxidant content → less nutritious → Less cardiovascular benefit compared to natural cocoa.

“Soy Protein”- Potential to interfere with thyroid function, GMO’s (see above), increased estrogen.

“Soy Lecithin”- See above.

“Rice Flour”- See above.

“Natural Flavors”- See above.

Protein Snacks

Anything protein, especially beef, is red hot right now regarding health trends. While I agree animal protein can be great, here are some caveats.

“Sugar”, “Brown Sugar”- Processed sugar→weight gain, insulin resistance→ Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, mood swings, joint pain, sleep problems.

“Maltodextrin”- potential to disrupt gut bacteria balance, gas, bloating, diarrhea, spikes blood sugar.

“Hydrolized Corn Protein”- MSG, GMO’s, bloating, anxiety, insomnia.

“Soybeans”- If not organic, then GMO (see above).
