Holiday Partying Balanced with Looking & Feeling Great- Here’s How tO Do IT…
Dear Friend,
The recent article below encourages you to balance work and personal life.
But did you know you can also balance holiday celebrations with looking and feeling great?
Here are some ways one of my clients did it, losing close to 15 pounds since Thanksgiving, shuffling into the holidays fit, trim, and having fun…
Picture this- You wake on January 1, 2025, and you look and feel great! Here’s how to do it…
Enjoying Your Holidays While Keeping an Eye on Great Health
Dial up your workouts.
Workout before and after celebrations to balance out the extra food & drinks.
Make sure to do resistance exercise- build muscles.
Build more muscle and you’ll burn more calories as you sip your holiday cocktail.
Put the bottle away during the week.
Save drinks with alcohol for special occasions. My client saved anywhere from 500 to 1500 calories per day not drinking during the week.
Skip mixed cocktails (sugar), and pour spirits over ice, or with a splash of seltzer, squeeze of lime- you just saved 100 calories!
Eat super clean during the week
Eat protein (Grass fed, organic) and healthy fats (olive oil, avocado) with every meal.
Protein and fats make you feel full faster.
Limit carbs like pasta, rice, and crackers- they make you crave more.
Drink water, and then when you think you’ve had enough, drink more water.
1/2 your body weight in ounces.
Put only the most delicious, special foods on your plate.
Skip the mediocre sweets and meats you can get anytime, anywhere.
Save your calories for the once a year treats.
Wait 15-20 minutes between visits to the chafing dishes. This allows your satiety centers to signal you’ve had enough.
Smile more. Actually, smile all the time, especially when you don’t want to.
Smile incessantly at that family member that rubs you a certain way- it will confuse their brain, “Are they messing with me?” and make you feel better ;-)
Be present- You can stress leading up to a party or get together. Stay focused on who and what you love, and how nothing and no one can distract you from it.
Remember, you are awesome, and deserve to enjoy your holiday while having fun and looking & feeling great doing it.
All My Best,
Peter
