Getting What You Want By Tapping Into Your Greatness
Dear Friend,
If you’re like me, you want great things for yourself.
And maybe…
You want to do great things for those you love- your children, your family, your friends, your community.
Also, you want to do great things in your life, your work, for the people you serve and lead- your employees/colleagues.
And, you want to do great things for the World.
This makes sense to me- To do those things, you and I have to tap into our own greatness, and then, we can share it with others.
Here’s one way to Achieve Greatness
Note- There are more components that go into greatness than these three steps, but during these difficult times it seems necessary to get started sooner than later, then fill in the blanks as we go.
And Remember- This is a difficult time of year- cold, dark, grey… and most likely someone you know, perhaps you, is struggling with something. I find comfort in that. Not that I want others to struggle, but that I am not alone in the struggle. Together, we can help each other be truly great. Here’s how…
3 Steps Toward Your Greatness
1. Create a compelling Vision (Purpose) that absolutely must come true. Make it exciting, compelling, life-changing.
Example- My vision is to help people find their greatness by tapping into their true self, then showing them what social media doesn’t- how to authentically nurture that greatness through an unstoppable mindset, unlimited energy from the best foods, the most powerful exercise, controlling anxiety, and staying intrinsically motivated.
2. Believe in that vision without a shadow of a doubt by uncovering Meaning. Find purpose in that vision by confirming why must it be, how everything in your life has led you to this one thing, this one place.
I use meditation and prayer (call it whatever feels right for you) every day to accomplish this. Start with 5 minutes, working to 30. The wisest people in history have been doing this for centuries for a reason. This will help you solidify that belief by tapping into a higher purpose.
3. Ask for Help- Don’t try to do it alone. Find a therapist, mentor, coach, someone that has resources you do not have, someone you will be accountable to, someone you will not let down, someone you respect, someone that has accomplished what you want to accomplish.
For years I tried to do it alone and struggled, using my self will/ego/pride, always ending up exactly where I started, frustrated, defeated, questioning, why are other people better than me, why is everyone else having a better life than me? That changed when I asked for help.
Note- Greatness is not being better than anyone else. Greatness is tapping into your true self, what your purpose on earth is, and how that purpose serves others. In other words, keep the focus on yourself.
Final thought- Your greatness is not measured by acquiring things, or what’s in your bank account. Your greatness is the special skills and talents you have to share with the world. If you choose to direct that towards acquiring things and riches, that is your prerogative. But be mindful of this- One does not need to be rich to be great; Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Jesus come to mind.
