Help Finding Balanced Health/Covid-19 News

covid+bias.jpg

Dear Friend,

Are you, like me, looking for the most helpful health news for you and those you love? Have you, like me, run into conflicting information? Frustrating, right?

Please allow me to share a strategy I’ve found helpful in my quest for helpful health news for myself, and those I care about, including you. A friend turned me on to a site called Allsides.com, who admit on their site, “Unbiased news does not exist; we provide balanced news and civil discourse.” Okay, they admit they’re not perfect. I like them already :-).

The screen shot above is from a recent topic on Covid-19. The three articles represent differing opinions on the same topic, whether children in school spread Covid-19. All three cite “scientific” sources, and come to different conclusions. As you can see, depending on where I look for my news, I will receive a different perspective. This is not necessarily a bad thing. It just compels me to compile information, then come to the best conclusion with the help of trusted friends, colleagues, etc. A friend reminds me this is what we used to do before pundits told us how to think. (BTW, my personal opinion is CNBC is not center, and that’s okay. The site is not perfect, and does not claim to be.)

I do not need to state where I stand on this issue, that’s not the point of this post. My desire is to pass on to you what was passed on to me, “Peter, everything is biased. Do your own research, look at all sides, then come to your own conclusion.” That is what I am trying my best to do.

I hope you find this helpful. Thanks for reading.

God Bless,

Peter

P.S.

What the healthiest people in the world do to help them live longer, happier lives, that our elected officials are not encouraging us to do. And it’s simple!

  • Eat mostly fresh, local, seasonal plants (vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, whole grains), and meat (wild, grass fed, organic) in moderation

  • Move your body daily in easy, small movements

  • Connect to your faith, spirituality, higher power, and life’s purpose

  • Stay connected with those you love, even if it’s remotely

  • Cook more of your meals (Yes, support our friends in food service, while also taking care of yourself and families.)

I encourage you to cook more, my friend, while supporting local restaurants and food suppliers as best you can. Together we can help each other through difficult times while staying healthy.

All my best,

Peter

Let me know what you’re thinking. Peace.
