The Lost Boys of Montauk, Author, Amanda Fairbanks- Podcast: Waking From The Fire, Ep 6

Dear Friend,

Every once in a while I read a book that stays with me. Amanda Fairbanks’, The Lost Boys of Montauk, is one of those books. In it she writes about the tragic true story of four men who vanished at sea, and the families they left behind. If she stopped there it would have made for a riveting story, but she went deeper, exploring the generational traumas that often lie under the surface of most tragedies, still affecting the survivors 37 years later. I connected to the respectful, honest way the struggles that many of us experience in our own families and relationships were explored in this book, whether they were wealthy manhattanites summering in “The Hamptons,” or local fishing families living off the sea (my sympathies for all the families involved). She also shared something my favorite authors do, what motivated her to tell this compelling story. Though full of heartbreak and loss, the book does end with hope. Oh, and she was so cool about meeting and signing my book, a thrill for me to meet authors I admire. It probably seems obvious- I recommend this book . Enjoy, my friends! I purchased it at Canio’s in Sag, Harbor, NY (You can buy online-https://bookshop.org/shop/caniosbooks, or #amazon. @amandamfairbanks #thelostboysofmontauk #greatbooks #montauk #thehamptons #author #read #books
